It looks really crappy but only because I thought I’d have time yesterday and then ended up spending New Year’s actually doing stuff, going out to eat with my brother, etc. Sorry for the fact that I drew this in Photoshop (obviously). Although it partly does have a point to it as you may notice the flying person in the background. I should also note that the tone/direction of the comic will pretty much be taking a very experimental shift and it may get a little weird/less gag-related. I dunno yet though I could be wrong. I’m kind of winging it right now so who knows what’ll happen. :O
Geez, it’s been a full year since anything’s been posted. That’s kind of sucky. Anyway, I had a huuuge post about what’s been going on and what’s gonna happen but looking at the last few posts where I did that and nothing DID happen I won’t make that mistake again and get ahead of myself. Here’s what I’m working on:
1. Part of the reason why the site stopped was because I had started going to SCAD or was getting ready to and it was a HUGE workload. I wanted to add more comics and get a schedule back but I just couldn’t do it (and I’m surprised Eric didn’t yell at me for it). Lately though I’ve been drawing loads more and really want to keep Koala Town and the characters alive. I love them and every time I try to think up a comic to do that isn’t them I just immediately come back to it.
2. I wanted to do a bigger, more involved, action/adventure oriented story but I think for my level of abilities/discipline I just can’t make that kind of commitment. So in the future I do plan to start doing more comic strips, most likely in the vein of the original versions where they were 3-4 panels with more involved ones being longer as I come up with them. I really love writing the bigger stories and imagining how things will be and look but I guess in the end it’s just way too overwhelming. Also, my panel layouts really blow and don’t flow well at all.
3. I’ve been working more intensely on learning figure drawing and just trying to improve overall in the skills department. I think in my future approaches to how I draw and how the characters will look you’ll probably see my time at SCAD reflected in this. I hope it looks better and I really hope people like it.
So that’s what my current thoughts are. I want to have done at least ONE new Koala Town strip (probably start in black and white though at first), with all the unnecessary flash stripped away, and just work on the meat of being funny and trying to have good, well-written characters. Oh, and well-drawn. Well-drawn characters are also important.
Ok, I’ll stop rambling now.
Be back on or around New Year’s I’m gonna say.
Good morning, all! Well, I just uploaded the first of hopefully many Koala and Snake videos. By hopefully many I also mean…hopefully those later many will be a lot better. …Why did I add voices??
Hey everyone! Thanks for sticking around if you have. If you’ll recall, the Koala and Snake puppets are finished and are just waiting around for a stage to perform on.
Howdy everyone! Well, I didn’t realize I’d spent almost an entire month working on how the puppets for Koala Town would look.
Holy moly it’s been a while since I posted! I just did some cleanup on the webpage since an update to the template broke it a while back and I only just now got around to fixing it; I figured this would be a good time to post, too. ↓ Read the rest of this entry…
I wrote this poem after several weeks of soul-searching. It’s the truest thing I’ve ever written.
Alright, even though Aaron left again, this time he brought his equipment with him and we had a chance to write a few comics for him to work on!
Today’s comic is a close-up of Snake’s anus because Aaron still isn’t back and I really don’t give a shit right now. Sorry folks!
Haven’t heard anything from Aaron since that comment he posted last week, and it turns out there weren’t as many comics in the buffer as I thought. Before he left he said he’d try and get a friend to do a guest comic but I haven’t heard from that either, so I took it upon myself to draw one!
As you can see I’m a much better artist than Aaron, and the writing is top-notch; I honestly spent at LEAST three minutes writing that comic. That’s only 7 minutes less than it took to draw it! And just in case you’re worried about this (I’m certain you are), this comic isn’t canon. We’ll continue the current mini-story as soon as Aaron shows up again!
